To customize your Taskbar in Windows Vista is as simple as finding a blank area on your Taskbar and giving it the old right click, and then click on Properties. On the Taskbar Tab you have a few choices to help customize your experience with your Windows Vista taskbar and include: Locking the Taskbar, Auto-hide the taskbar, Keep the taskbar on top of other windows, Group similar taskbar buttons, Show Quick Launch and Show windows previews (thumbnails). Some of the more popular uses of customizing the Taskbar so similar programs or Taskbar buttons are not group, or bunched up under one button. By unchecking it you will have your buttons lined up horizontally.
