What is the Validation Rule and how is it used in Excel 2007? The Validation Rule is a rule you can apply to a cell or range of cells that controls the data that can be entered in. Say for example you want nobody to enter in an order for tubes of toothpaste of over 100. Set the Validation Rule up so anybody who enters in over that amount to display an error message telling them the data must be under 100. Additionally, you can set this rule to be a warning and still allow them to enter in a number over the amount, or completely prevent them from entering and saving the invalid amount. Additionally, you can create Lists of data in Excel!
