What is the Subtotal feature and how do I use it in Excel 2007? First of all before you can even use the Subtotal feature you need to make sure that your Excel database is setup correctly with no design flaws, as shown in our training videos. The Subtotals feature will add up and create totals at each change in your data. Meaning if you have sales all over the world you can group these sales by Country and get the totals instantly using the Subtotals feature. Simply click anywhere in your database and on the Ribbon click Data Tab>Outline group and click the Subtotal button; and then select the options and click ok.
