How do I create, edit or delete Named Ranges in Excel 2007? First of all a Named Range is assigning a name to a range of cells, or even a single cell. What is the purpose for naming a range of cells? Two benefits include: a quick fast way to jump to your named range without having to scroll through thousands of rows or columns, and be able to include that name as part of a reference in a formula or function. For example, if you have a function that includes a range of cells i.e. A5 through B10; simply assign that range a name i.e. Q1 for Quarter 1 and then instead of typing the range A5:B10, you only need to add Q1 to that formula to be included.
