How do you freeze panes in Excel 2007? A frozen pane in Excel means that part of your worksheet stays frozen in place as you scroll throughout your worksheet. You can freeze either your rows, columns or both rows and columns. To freeze a row or column first click just below the row or to the right of the column you want to freeze i.e. if you don't want to freeze any columns but just rows then you'll want to be sure to click in the first column, column A. Why? Because it will again freeze anything to left of the column and since there's nothing there then there won't be anything to freeze and hence the only freezing will be it by rows.
