Paragraph Alignments

In your English class you learned that three or four sentences make up a paragraph, but not in Word 2007. Every time you hit enter, or create a hard return in Word, it understands that you're creating a new paragraph. Sure, you could type one sentence and hit enter on your keyboard, but that would signify to Word 2007 (not your English professor) that you created a new, or separate paragraph. Does that matter? When it comes to aligning your text left, right or center of the page, then know that Word will only align what it considers as a paragraph. So for example, when I want to center a paragraph I simply click in the paragraph, to drop my cursor in, and then click on an

alignment button. But if I have three sentences and each one has a hard return at the end of it (again, paragraphs in Word), then I'd have to click in each paragraph separately and click an alignment button to align each paragraph. Now you can ignore all this if you simply "select" what you want to align, and not just dropping your cursor in the paragraph and aligning there. Some people don't let Word 2007 naturally wrap their text for them, but when they get to the end of a line the are "return" happy! They hit enter a lot! Grrr! Try helping some clean up their document, and you'll see how annoying it can be with all those unnecessary hard returns. Purchase the training video and you can see this in action for yourself!
