Absolute References

What are Absolute References in Excel 2007? Really to get a grasp of this it might be best to see this as an example in action, in our training videos. However, the definition of an Absolute Reference is basically is a cell reference in a formula that remains the same when the formula is copied to another cell. In other words, you'll have to tell a cell that it can't update in a formula like say B5, when you copy that same formula and paste it into another cell. Naturally, the formula would want to update either to C5 or B6, as the next logical consecutive update. But adding $ signs in your original formula will keep it static i.e. $B$5, and not shift when you copy and paste the formula.
